School characteristic
► The art education in Slovak Republic represents connected institutions of upbringing and schooling, which provide an ability to develop talent of young generation. Some parts of this institution enable students to continue in artistic preparation for a higher level and to qualify for professional performing . The main aim of artistic education is the upbringing by art (to form personality) to bring up to art (to develop an ability to create and accept the art) and to prepare for art (preparation to professional artistic activity).The Elementary school of Art represents the basic element. By their musical, artistic dance and scenic branches it represents the school which provides a specific professional upbringing of pupils with increased interest and skills in the area of an art production. The Elementary school of Art provides an elementary education; prepares students to study at high schools, conservatories and universities too.1. Stages of the elementary Art education:
A student can gain a primary education by successful graduation from an elementary school of Art.
Primary education is divided into:
a) primary Art education – which student gains by successful graduation from the last grade of an educational program for the first part of the first stage of the elementary education. A school report with a clause serves as a document .
b) lower secondary Art education – which student gains by a successful graduation from the last grade of an educational program for the second part of the first stage of the elementary education. A school report with a clause serves as a document
2. Educational process organization
(1) The Private school of Art organizes a preliminary study, a primary study, a study with extended number of lessons, a short study and a study for adults.
(2) Preliminary study has 2 years at most. It is intended for students of the first stage of an elementary school and for talented children before a compulsory education.
(3) Elementary study is divided into two stages: The first stage has at most 9 years and the second stage has 4 years at most.There is a possibility for those students who have not attended the first stage of an elementary study.One year of preliminary study can be offered.
(4) Extended study is intended for students who show an outstanding talent and the best school results from an elementary school.
(5) In a short study students are prepared for studying at high schools, conservatories and for studying at pedagogical and universities of Art..
(6) Study for adults has 4 years at most
(7) Lessons are individual and grouped. The number of students in particular subjects is determined by a syllabus.
